Is it November yet? This is for Austin, btw.

I do not miss summer frac.

But how is your air quality? I have a head ache and have had a runny no
se for the last few days.

College Station: Slightly Better!

I ended up timing my two weeks in Indy perfectly to coincide with the hottest Dal las temps this summer. Last week in Dallas was great too, with the unseasonable rain and cloudiness keeping highs way off normal. Yeah, it’s back to mid 90s this week, but that’s not bad for mid-August.

It’s very bad where I am right now. I literally cannot see two blocks down the road in my neighborhood.

How is yours? We’ve been in the 150-180 range for the last few days. Not nearly as bad as last year, but not all that enjoyable either.

Tulsa: better...

Better than being six inches underwater like most of the northeast.

Coming to DFW in a month. Can’t wait to melt.

I don’t have numbers, but we have been suffering from Saharan dust filling the air. Makes things more than a tad hazy. Here was a sunset from a few weeks ago.

Yeah, but you’re in College Station.

We also managed to be out of town for the weeks when temps went to 105+. I was just commenting to my wife that we may have dodged the worst of it. I spoke too soon.

We are around 40-50 right now. It’s bad enough that I don’t want to go for a strenuous
bike ride but not so bad you can taste it.

I’ll take the rain. We’re heading for another drought.

Yuck.

Oh, that is no good.

It doesn’t really cool down here in Austin until November, and even than, it is not unheard of for Christmas Day to be 7o degrees.

You really are getting hit hard by it. Our visibility was down to somewhere between a quarter and half a mile yesterday. We’re not quite as directly in the path, though.
It looked positively apocalyptic out there when we were driving home last night. All it needed to be complete were blackened trees.

“Hey RootWyrm, you should move to Austin. Lots of jobs there.”

Yeah, it’s hot, but winter can be awesome. Unless you like cold weather, like I do. It rarely snows, it’s usually 80+ on Halloween. Spring cedar pollen can be deadly, though.

What’s the humidity?
Usually we’re around 90 ish degrees, but 80+ % humi dity.......
08/15/2018 at 16:18 |

Having gone from winter in April straight into summer, we’ve now left summer for fall a month or so early ....

Cold weather... you mean fun driving season?
And not just because I have the SSJ for the first week every year. 350- 650 ft/lbs + QuadraTrac + >2 tons = joygasm, not fun .
![]() 08/15/2018 at 16:21 |

Currently, it’s pretty low, around 35-40%. But next week it’s going to be 80% or higher.

We used to get at least one good ice storm a year. We haven’t for the last couple of years due to drought. If there’s even sleet, it’s best to stay home since nobody knows how to drive in it and the roads are a cluster**k.
![]() 08/15/2018 at 16:23 |

Wow, that’s nice. We actually had a proper spring this year. Usually we go from freezing rain to 90 degrees overnight.
08/15/2018 at 16:28 |
|
Not that bad, but we did go from 38 to 83 between 4/7 and 4/13. Central A/C died the beginning of June too, so this summer was rather unpleasant up until the beginning of August. .

Well, we’ve found your problem then. You jinxed it.

I think that’s the Chamber of Commerce slogan down there.

November? You’re out of your mind. It won’t cool down until December.

I’m trying to be optimistic.
![]() 08/15/2018 at 17:07 |

At the beginning of last summer we completely replaced our heat/ac, got the ductwork redone, and added a second vent for the large, high-ceilinged living room. It’s made a significant difference in cooling levels and our bill. We also got new triple-paned windows a few years ago.
![]() 08/15/2018 at 17:08 |

It’s usually like that around here. 95 degrees and 95% humidity. The heat isn’t bad without the humidity. I can handle 100 degrees and 30% humidity no problem. 95 degrees and 95% humidity is a whole different ball game.

Sounds like you could use some solar panels to make some extra shake and harness some of that energy.

That would be a good idea. My house faces south, though, and I’m not sure my HOA would allow me to put them on the front of the roof. It’s also a major investment, and I’ve got three kids to put through college.

Dry heat. ;)
Hot is still hot, don’t get me wrong.

Don’t get mad, but I’ve been bitching all week that it’s way too hot. To my defense, it’s over 80 degrees in my warehouse.
![]() 08/15/2018 at 17:50 |

It’s one thing to be hot in a place where it’s supposed to be hot, quite another to be hot in a place where it’s not supposed to be hot.

I love when the nights get cool and everyone brings out their performance cars. Im sick of the heat. Last week is where I want it to be.

I just want a day with a high under 80.
